Join us for multi-sensory, small-group, structured literacy intervention using the Wilson Reading System. Built for any 1st - 8th grade student who has dyslexia, dysgraphia, or general literacy struggles that negatively impact their learning or self-confidence.

Redwood Literacy creates a fun, engaging & personalized lesson each time. Not only has my 4th-grade son’s confidence grown, but his reading level & test scores have jumped significantly from below to above grade level.

SECTIONS
With two 90-minute blocks a week, students will receive a total of three hours of instruction allowing them to complete two full Wilson lessons. This is the minimum amount of intervention recommended to successfully close gaps. read more about the Wilson Reading system here.
Beginner (Wilson Sub-Step 1.3)
This small-group will begin instruction in the Wilson Reading System Sub-Step 1.3. This is where all students begin the program, regardless of current reading level. If they are new to Wilson, they should register for this level.

Intermediate (Wilson Sub-Step 2.1)
This small-group will begin instruction in the Wilson Reading System Sub-Step 2.1. This is where all students who were enrolled in Redwood’s Small Groups in Fall 2018 should continue and where students who have received some sort of Wilson Reading Instruction previously should begin with us.

Adult Group (Wilson Sub-Step 1.3)
This small-group geared towards adult students will begin instruction in the Wilson Reading System Sub-Step 1.3. This is where all students begin the program, regardless of current reading level or age.
*This group has special pricing. It is $30 an hour, for 2 hours a week, for 20 weeks (January - May). You can pay monthly ($240 per month) OR in one lump sum ($1200) for the entire semester.
Mondays and Wednesdays, ONE SECTION
1 section @ 7:00-8:00 PM
*All sections have a guaranteed 5:1 student-to-instructor ratio and incorporate individual goals to boost the learner's outlook on all things literacy.
Parent Wilson Workshop
If you have a student receiving Wilson Reading Intervention and would like to have more information on how to support their learning at home, this workshop is for you! You will learn the basic terminology and procedures your child is learning in order to keep things consistent and walk alongside them. Additionally, we will be partnering with Equip for Equality who will be coming in to help educate parents on their Special Education rights and giving them tools to help advocate for the right kind of services at their child’s school. This workshop is FREE. Please sign up ahead of time.

Approach
Each student will receive:
Individualized structured literacy intervention in a small group setting, including:
Systematic decoding and encoding instruction (utilizing the Wilson Reading System)
Fluency practice and tracking
Concrete comprehension strategies (utilizing Comprehension SOS, Bloom's Taxonomy of Questions and the Visualizing & Verbalizing Method)
Toolbelt of free assistive technology supports
Increased reading stamina
Targeted vocabulary instruction
Easy-to-implement interventions for parents and guardians to continue support at home (or further referral for continued intervention).

Cost
Our mission is to provide excellent quality reading intervention at an affordable cost. At approximately $33.33 an hour, we are able to offer the lowest private Wilson Reading Intervention rate across the city of Chicago that we have encountered. To keep things streamlined for us and thus help keep costs low, we have shifted our pricing to a course rate of $2000 for the entire semester. This represents 20 weeks of instruction and testing, resulting in a price of $100 per week. We have several payment plans available:
One-Time Payment
If you choose this method, we will send you an invoice in January for $2000 and this will cover the cost of the course for the entire semester. You will be able to pay via **credit card, via bank transfer or via Venmo.
Monthly Payment
If you choose this method, we will send you an invoice that will be due the first of each month for five months, January-May. Each invoice will be $400. You will be able to pay via **credit card, via bank transfer or via Venmo.
Weekly payment
If you choose this method, you will be responsible for bringing $100 cash at the beginning of each week. We will send you a receipt at the end of each month.
*Clients are subject to a $25 late fee for every week payments are not made on time and for cancellations without 24 hours notice. All prepayments are nonrefundable. Please reach out with any questions regarding payment.
