A New Chapter: Introducing Everstone Academy

Dear Redwood families, partners, and friends,

In 2018, Kait and Andre opened a small storefront at 7007 North Glenwood Avenue in Rogers Park with a simple belief: students with learning differences deserve best-in-class instruction, expert instructors, and unwavering belief in their potential.

From that storefront, two organizations were born. Redwood Literacy and Redwood Schools grew side by side, united by a shared mission to help students build skills, confidence, and the belief that they can reach their dreams. In 2019, Rebecca Sinclair joined as co-founder and Head of School, and the organization launched its nonprofit arm as Redwood Day School and obtained 501(c)(3) status.

Today, eight years later, we are marking an exciting new chapter.

Redwood Schools is officially becoming Everstone Academy.

This change reflects growth and clarity. While the for-profit and nonprofit organizations have long operated as separate legal entities with distinct governance and funding, we have shared a name, branding, and public presence. As both organizations have matured, it has become clear that giving each its own identity will allow both to grow sustainably and serve families with greater clarity.

What is not changing is just as important as what is.

Everstone Academy will continue to operate the same full and half-day programs at Alcuin and Black Bear, as well as therapeutic and academic intervention with school partners across Chicagoland. Leadership, staff, curriculum, mission, and funding all remain the same. Students will see the same trusted faces and experience the same high-quality programming. The only change is the name of the nonprofit organization.

Redwood Literacy will continue focusing on individualized intervention and digital products. We provide online intervention during and after the school day, parent mini courses and resources, and in-person programming at our Lincoln Park location and our new Evanston storefront. As part of this transition, our original Rogers Park location will close at the end of this school year as we move into our new storefront in Evanston.

This moment feels symbolic. Moving out of the storefront where both organizations began marks the end of our beginning, while two strong, mission-aligned organizations step confidently into their next season.

On March 7, our teams gathered at the Sneaker Ball to celebrate the launch of Everstone Academy. It was a joyful evening honoring eight years of impact and an exciting future ahead. We are proud to continue cheering one another on as partners in this work.

We remain deeply aligned in our mission to help students gain confidence in their academic abilities using best-in-class instructional materials and highly trained specialists. We are simply living that mission out in more distinct and focused ways.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your usual contact at Redwood or Everstone. We are happy to help.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With gratitude,
Kait & Andre
