Redwood is not a general tutoring center. Built by educators and parents of dyslexic learners, Redwood has focused on literacy intervention since 2018. Do you offer online tutoring as well?
Yes. Redwood offers live online one-on-one and small-group structured literacy tutoring. Students receive targeted instruction, progress monitoring and the same specialist expertise available through Redwood’s in-person programs.
Do you provide dyslexia assessments and reading screeners?
Yes. Redwood offers in-person screeners and reading assessments in Chicago, along with online assessment options. Families receive standardized data, clear findings and practical recommendations that can guide tutoring and school conversations.
What credentials do Redwood tutors have?
Redwood instructors are licensed educators with advanced training in structured literacy and intervention for dyslexia, dysgraphia and related learning differences. The Chicago team includes Wilson Reading System® certified and trained specialists, reading specialists, learning behavior specialists and early-childhood certified educators.
How do small groups work and why are they effective?
Students are intentionally matched with peers who have similar learning profiles. The small format allows the specialist to target individual skill gaps, provide direct feedback and build in frequent practice, while students gain confidence from learning alongside peers facing similar challenges.
What evidence-based approaches does Redwood use?
Redwood does not force every student into one program. Specialists combine evidence-based approaches according to each student’s learning profile, skill gaps and response to instruction. A plan may draw from Wilson Reading System®, SPELL-Links™ and Writing Our World®, with progress data guiding what changes next. The result is truly individualized structured literacy rather than the same preset sequence for every student.
How do we choose between small-group, one-on-one and online tutoring?
Small groups combine targeted instruction with peer support, while one-on-one tutoring offers the most individualized pacing and focus.
