If your child can’t read yet, if writing feels like a nightly battle, or if math homework ends in tears more often than not, you already know how much you’re carrying as a homeschool parent. You’re teaching every subject, every day, while also wondering if you’re doing it right.
In Florida, the Personalized Education Program gives homeschool families a tool to help, and it can cover more than most parents realize.
What Is the PEP Scholarship?
The Personalized Education Program, or PEP, is an education savings account (ESA) offered through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship. It’s built for Florida’s K-12 home educators, regardless of household income, and families receive $8,000 on average to spend on instructional materials, curriculum, testing fees, and private tutoring.
Applications for the 2026 to 2027 school year closed April 30, 2026. If your family was already awarded funding, that money is sitting in your education savings account right now, ready to use. If you missed this window, watch stepupforstudents.org for updates on the 2027 to 2028 application period.
If your child has a diagnosed learning difference, it’s also worth checking your eligibility for Florida’s Unique Abilities scholarship, which averages $10,000 and is designed for students with a specific diagnosis on file.
Redwood Literacy is an approved PEP vendor through Step Up For Students. That means your Florida ESA funds can go directly toward Redwood’s products and tutoring today, no extra paperwork required.
Meet the Woman Behind Redwood
Redwood Literacy was founded by Kait Feriante, and this work is personal to her. Kait was homeschooled herself for the majority of her elementary, middle, and high school years. Today, she is a mom of three, one of whom has dyslexia, and that experience changed how she thinks about learning differences entirely.
In 2018, Kait and her husband Andre began Redwood Literacy in a brick-and-mortar storefront in Chicago, IL. They became dyslexia practitioners and helped kids make life-changing growth. Since then, Redwood has served over 3,000 students across 22 states. In 2021, Kait and her team began developing Redwood Learning, which is a suite of digital parent resources created by parents for parents. These products and curricula can help break the cycle of tears and frustration, and build hope and confidence for parents and their children.
Kait didn’t just start a company and step back. She helped build every product in Redwood’s library herself, drawing on structured literacy research and her own family’s story. She knows what it feels like to sit across the table from a child who is trying so hard and still struggling. She also knows what it feels like when the right approach finally clicks.
That’s the confidence Kait wants every Florida homeschool parent to feel this year.
What You Can Do Right Now With Your PEP Funds
Redwood’s ESA-approved products are built to answer the questions homeschool parents ask us most.
“My kid is struggling in reading and has lost confidence. How do I help?”
Six Success Tricks for Folks with Dyslexia ($49) guides parents through 15-minute mini-lessons on how to rebuild your student’s academic confidence in six weeks.
“How do I help my kid with math homework?”
Math Support Made Simple ($149) provides personalized 15-minute math lessons tailored to your kid’s needs.
“I need support as a homeschool parent, not just for my kid.”
The 8 Week Guided Parent Support Program ($299) pairs a clear roadmap with live coaching, so you’re never figuring this out alone.
“What homeschool curriculum should I use for writing?”
Writing Our World ($349) takes students from single sentences to multi-paragraph essays, built for kids who find writing especially hard.
Together, Redwood’s full product library costs $846, a small piece of your average $8,000 PEP award.
Ready for Individual or Small Group Tutoring?
Unlike some states, Florida’s PEP funds can go toward tutoring right now. Redwood’s Individual Tutoring and Small Group Tutoring, starting at $660 every four weeks, pair your child with a certified special education teacher trained in structured literacy curriculums like Wilson Reading System®, UFLI, and Spell Links™. Sessions are online, so families anywhere in Florida can enroll without leaving home. With your $846 in products and room to spare in an average award, many Florida families can build a full year of reading, writing, and math support with Redwood using PEP funds alone. This works whether you homeschool independently, teach through a co op, or are part of a microschool using PEP funds.
Why Families Trust Redwood
Redwood holds a Stanford Tutoring Program Design Badge, one of only 37 awarded nationwide. We’ve served more than 3,000 students, and every product Kait built comes from real experience raising and teaching a child with dyslexia herself.
