Big news for Nashville families: Redwood Literacy is now an approved provider in the Tennessee Education Savings Account (ESA) Program. If your child has a Tennessee ESA, you can use those funds for Redwood’s after-school and summer reading intervention at our East Nashville Learning Center.

This guide explains what the Tennessee ESA is, which Redwood programs it covers, and exactly how to use your funds, step by step.

What Is the Tennessee ESA Program?

The Tennessee Education Savings Account Program is run by the Tennessee Department of Education. It gives eligible K-12 students state and local education dollars to spend on approved expenses, such as private school tuition, tutoring, and approved summer and after-school programs. For the 2026-27 school year, ESA awards are about $10,100 per student.

Students are generally eligible if they:

  • Are zoned to attend Metro Nashville Public Schools, Memphis-Shelby County Schools, or Hamilton County Schools
  • Live in a household with income at or below twice the federal free lunch limit
  • Meet the state’s prior-enrollment rules, and attend a participating non-public school

Not sure if your child qualifies? Check the Tennessee Department of Education school options page or email the ESA team at ESA.Applications@tn.gov.

Which Redwood Programs Can I Pay For With My Tennessee ESA?

Redwood is approved for two Tennessee ESA categories: after-school programming and summer programming. Both focus on reading, spelling, and writing for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Classes meet at 1101 Chapel Ave, Suite 201, Nashville, TN 37206.

After-School Literacy Intervention

  • Small group (4 weeks): $660. Two 75-minute sessions per week, up to five students per group, grouped by age and skill level.
  • One-to-one (4 weeks): $1,320. Two 60-minute private sessions per week.
  • Sessions run after school, between 4:15 and 6:45 PM.

Summer Morning Intensive

  • 4 weeks: $2,750 · 6 weeks: $4,125 · 8 weeks: $5,000
  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for students in grades 2 to 8
  • Small groups of five or fewer, with daily reading, spelling, and writing instruction

Prices are the same for ESA and private-pay families. Every Redwood program uses explicit, systematic structured literacy instruction, and every student’s progress is tracked with data.

How to Use Your Tennessee ESA Funds at Redwood: Step by Step

Tennessee ESA families buy approved services through the state’s ESA Marketplace. Here is how it works.

  1. Book a quick call with Redwood. We’ll talk about your child, recommend the right program, and save your spot. Schedule a consult call.
  2. Log in to your Tennessee ESA account. Use the same account where your ESA was approved, then open the Marketplace. The state’s video shows you how: Family Marketplace Access.
  3. Find Redwood Literacy. Search the Marketplace for “Redwood Literacy.” Choose the program we recommended, such as After-School Literacy Intervention: Small Group (4 weeks).
  4. Purchase the program. Check out with your ESA funds. The state’s video walks you through it: Purchasing a Product.
  5. We confirm and get started. Redwood receives your order, confirms your schedule, and sends a receipt for your records. Then your child starts class.
  6. Renew each cycle. After-school programs run in 4-week cycles. Purchase the next cycle in the Marketplace to keep going without a break.

Keep an eye on one date: the state projects that the Marketplace will stop taking orders for services, including summer programming, on June 25, 2027 at 4 PM CT. Order summer weeks before then.
