How Redwood Method Tuition Works: Payment Options, Policies & FAQs

When you invest in your child’s reading, you deserve to know exactly how tuition works: no surprises and no fine print. This guide explains how billing works for The Redwood Method, our year of online one-to-one structured literacy instruction for students with dyslexia and other learning differences.

What is Redwood Method tuition?

The Redwood Method is priced like school tuition: a one-year commitment. At the standard dosage of twice a week, your child receives 96 one-to-one sessions over the year at $165 per session, for $15,840.

Four weeks off are built into every year for breaks like the holidays, spring break, or summer camps. Tuition covers exactly your child’s sessions for the year, so you never pay for weeks off.

How much does each dosage cost?

Many children need more than two sessions a week, especially at the start. Tuition scales with dosage:

Sessions per weekSessions per yearQuarterlyFull year
2x96$3,960$15,840
3x144$5,940$23,760
4x192$7,920$31,680
5x240$9,900$39,600

What are my payment options?

  • Quarterly: 4 payments by automatic bank draft (ACH).
  • Pay in full by bank draft: save 10% ($14,256 at twice weekly).
  • Pay in full by credit card: save 7% ($14,731.20 at twice weekly). Want your card points? We can even take your payment over the phone.

Quarterly payments are made by bank draft only. That’s how we keep tuition at this rate.

What does tuition include?

  • An Academic Clarity Plan in week one: assessment, dated goals, and the right dosage for your child.
  • A one-to-one instructor matched to your child, trained in evidence-based methods such as Wilson Reading System®, SPELL-Links™, and EBLI™.
  • Progress monitoring with DIBELS® 8 and a data update every quarter, so you’re never guessing.
  • A free instructor or schedule switch in the first 30 days if the fit isn’t right.
  • Our 90-Day Guarantee: with 90% attendance at twice a week, if your child doesn’t show documented growth on at least one DIBELS® 8 measure, we add four weeks of services free.
  • A Year-End Progress & Plan meeting to review the data and plan what’s next.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Tuition is non-refundable. Real reading growth takes consistent instruction over time, and we plan our instructors’ schedules around your child’s full year. Instead of refunds, we give you flexibility, starting with the dosage changes below. (If you pay with state ESA funds, your state program’s rules apply.)

Can we change how many sessions we do each week?

Yes, always.

  • Going up: add sessions anytime. The difference is billed using the same payment options.
  • Going down: also a yes. We’ll ask why so we can share our professional recommendation, but it’s your call as the parent. Because tuition is non-refundable, the money you’ve already paid becomes a credit toward future Redwood sessions. Good news: you’re now paid up for longer. For example, a family that paid for four sessions a week and moves to two is simply covered for a longer stretch at two a week.

Credits are valued at the rate you paid and can be used within 24 months of your original enrollment date.

What happens after the first year?

We never keep a child in services they don’t need, and we never push a family out early. Near the end of each year, you’ll meet with us for a Year-End Progress & Plan meeting. Together we look at the data and decide on one of three paths:

  • Graduate. Your child is ready, and we celebrate.
  • Keep going. Gaps remain, and we recommend a plan for the next grade.
  • Step down. Your child has made strong gains and needs a lighter plan.

After your first year, enrollment automatically renews in 3-month terms, billed by bank draft, so your child’s progress isn’t interrupted. You can also choose another full year (with the same pay-in-full savings). We don’t offer month-to-month plans, because real growth takes more than a few weeks.

We’ll always email you 30 to 45 days before any renewal, and you can cancel renewal anytime before your next term begins by emailing admissions@redwoodliteracy.com.

What if my child misses a session?

With more than 24 hours’ notice, your instructor will reschedule within two weeks. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, or no-shows, count as a used session. If we cancel, we always make it up.

Can I use ESA, HSA, or school funding?

Often, yes. Redwood is an approved provider in several state Education Savings Account (ESA) programs, and some families use HSA funds or school or district funding. Ask us on your call and we’ll walk you through what applies to your family.

Is it worth it?

Families compare The Redwood Method to private school tuition, speech or occupational therapy, or a neuropsychological evaluation, not to homework help. You’re investing in a year of expert one-to-one instruction, real data, and a plan that adjusts to your child. Time is the one thing we can’t give back, and early, consistent intervention matters.
