This is a contract role with a listed pay range of $50–$60 per hour, a flexible schedule, day shifts and evenings as needed, and a mid-to-late September start date. The hourly rate depends on your background and experience, and covers lesson prep and parent communication.

Redwood spent eight years building roots in Rogers Park, Chicago, through our inaugural In-Person Learning Center. Last year, we opened a Learning Center in Lincoln Park. This school year, we’re opening two more.
Evanston is part of that growth. Each of our locations hosted a summer literacy intensive in 2026, so each center already has a student and parent community returning this fall. Our centers are bright, welcoming spaces where kids can land after school and instructors can work alongside colleagues rather than alone at a kitchen table. A manager handles enrollment, billing, and building logistics. You bring your teaching expertise; we provide the materials you need to teach.

Evidence-based teaching, with the whole student in view
Redwood Literacy is a specialized education company serving students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences. We’re a Stanford Tutoring Program Design Badge recipient—one of only 37 nationwide—and have served 3,500+ students across 22 states.
Last school year, 100% of our students improved their DIBELS 8 composite score, growing 29% faster than the national average. Student growth is central to our work, alongside the confidence students build and the hope their families regain.
You’ll deliver reading and writing intervention individually and in small groups of four to five students, using evidence-based literacy curricula including Wilson Reading System®, EBLI, UFLI, SEE, and Writing Our World™.
You’ll track each student’s progress and individualize instruction, supporting both academic and social-emotional growth. You’ll also build genuine relationships with students and families. We’re trust-driven, and we treat every family as VIP.
A schedule with room for your life
Small-group sessions run Monday through Thursday, 4:15–5:30 p.m. and 5:30–6:45 p.m. Fridays are optional. We’re looking for instructors available afternoons and early evenings, Monday through Thursday, across the full school year.
Individual sessions can happen any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., depending on your schedule and the family’s. That is a session window, not a requirement to work the entire day.
Daytime hours can grow over time, depending on your preferences and enrollment, most often through individual sessions. There’s nothing to commit to now: the opportunity is there, and you have autonomy over your schedule. Openness to daytime hours and summer programming down the road is part of what we’re looking for.
